As I sit here on Memorial Day I can’t help but think of all the women and men who have served our country and the many who lost their lives doing so. A soldier’s level of service is in response to truly believing in a cause greater than themselves. So it should be as Believers. When we believe in the Gospel more than our own desires, service in the Kingdom is a blessing and not a burden.
Realistically, it is always easier to BE served than TO serve, but the example Christ left us is clear. Our Lord never gave a thought to His own needs, but only those of the Kingdom.
“…just as the Son of Man did not come to be served,
but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
So, with this, I encourage each of you to find a place to serve. Look for opportunities to serve wherever you find yourself. And, in addition to your daily lives, look to the church body for areas to serve. At Zion’s River there are many areas that could use your service. Please don’t let an opportunity pass by without pursuing service. For when you truly serve, the JOY of the Lord is abundant!
May each of you feel the love of our Lord on this special day!
With love for you all!
