The Story He Crafts

“But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33)

There is a temptation in our lives to place weight on trying to figure out life circumstances apart from the presence of God. There is a temptation to seek first our own solutions. There is, as Pastor Jim highlighted on Sunday, a story we can tell ourselves which keeps us distant from God and the story He wrote for us. We believe this story can justify us, keep us in a place of peace, give us a sense of control and input into the situation, and is the way into the places we long to see ourselves. The only problem with all of this is that the story we craft for ourselves comes to an end, the pages run out, earthly resource runs dry, and we are left wondering how we ended up here. The beauty and hope in it all comes from understanding a Kingdom principle that leads to life and the story He alone has written for us!

The Kingdom principle is this: Seek God FIRST! God has called His Sons and Daughters to be in constant communion with Him, to understand that apart from Him there is no life, to continuously abide in Him, to seek Him first! Have you ever come to a place in your life, maybe you are there right now, where you SO DESIRE to seek God first, but you believe that if you set down taking care of business (if you will), and focus your attention in His presence that everything is going to fall apart, that you will lose touch with reality! Have you come to believe that the presence of God can only be attended to during your morning devotion, or on Sunday during church?

The Story He Crafts
Beloved, I have beautiful news for us – we are designed to live from the reality of God’s presence each and every moment of our lives. We are designed to be resourced from His presence for everyday living. We are designed to not spend our days worrying and anxious. We are designed to seek first the Kingdom of God and to KNOW that when we do, ALL that we need is poured out from a heavenly resource!

I believe with all of my being that God is calling each one of us to shift our focus, to realign our days, and to enter into the reality of a life dedicated and devoted to the presence of God. This is in no way to say that you are not living a “Seek First” lifestyle, but rather to encourage our hearts that NOW is the time to go even deeper. Many of you need answers and solutions, you need provision financially, relationally, and emotionally. In knowing you have been seeking solutions to your situations. You have been searching high and low for resources that will provide answers and each time you come up dry always needing to go back to the drawing board to try again.

Beloved, He Understands
God is calling out to you and I today –
Seek Me first and I will provide EVERYTHING you need Beloved!
The Lord is saying –
Come to Me, I am ALL you need.
The Lord is saying –
Beloved, you were created to live FIRST from My presence, not from any other reality.

God wants you to know today that He understands what you need, He understands the answers that need to come into the situations you face, He understands the world He placed you in, the ins and outs of what it takes to maintain all that you have been entrusted with. He understands your humanness. He understands His design! He LOVES the way you were created, He loves your story, He loves the way He created you to seek Him first! You see, God did not create you to send you out on your own apart from Him. God created you to ALWAYS be with Him, to ALWAYS seek Him first! He created you for continual fellowship and intimacy. He created you for Him-

There is a song I love, it is very simple and says this:

Peace that passes, my understanding,
Love that conquers, my fear and regret
Joy unending, eternal pleasure
In your presence, my risen king
I will seek first, your kingdom
I will seek first, your righteousness
Everything I need, you will provide for me
My heart is to seek first, your kingdom
You’re what I really want
You’re all I really need
Father every breath I’ve got
You have given it to me
(Jason Upton – “Seek First”)

God is inviting you to seek Him first! Connect to the reality of His presence first and allow Him to lead you from that place. I promise you that your life will not fall apart, but rather will come together in ways you never imagined possible! The promise is this “seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” ALL that He knows you need will be added.

With great love for His church,
Pastor Melissa
